"The usual deformity that leads people to consider an otoplasty surgery is an ear wich protrudes too much from the side of the head".
Otoplasty is a surgical procedure performed on the ear to correct the position of the protruding ears, due to the absence of the natural folds of cartilage. Otoplasty is used to help patients acquire a more cosmetically appealing ears and improve their self-image.
Dr. Cabrera uses Chongchet otoplasty technique. This technique produce a very natural result and low recurrence rate because malformed cartilage is reshaped without stitches. In other otoplasty techniques is necessary to provide permanent stitches and eventually those stitches can give problems to the patient such as extrusion or recurrence (when the stitches lose stress).
HOW DO I KNOW IF I AM A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A OTOPLASTY?
Children from school age with a congenital deformity of protuding ears whose parents choose to correct the defect. In adolescence or adulthood this treatment is quite common as well.
HOW LONG DOES AN OTOPLASTY TAKE IT?
A otoplasty times depends on the extent of the ear deformity. Usually time of surgery is between one hour and one hour and a half.
Doctor´s
considerations
Since I learned the technique of Chongchet otoplasty in 2005, during my stay at the Queen Victoria Hospital in London, I have not stopped practicing it, with results that combine an extraordinary naturalness with an absence complete of recurrences. For me this otoplasty technique is much superior to the rest of the techniques described in the scientific literature, since the curvature is natural, without being forced by a suture, generating a natural, defined and predictable turn to the millimeter, so the results are an incredible naturalness and, what is more important, for a lifetime.
